Bannest Hill Cottage is a seventeenth century shepherd's house in a peaceful location within the Lake District National Park, ideally located for visiting the Lake District. Eden Valley or Hadrian's Wall.
The tastefully-furnished accomodation comprises on the ground floor, a comfortable beamed living area with many period features, a well-equipped newly fitted kitchen with slate-tiled floor, and a shower room with a large walk-in shower.
Upstairs is a large beamed family bedroom with both a double and a single bed. This room can be easily subdivided into a single and a double bedroom, with their own separate access, if required.

A newly built annexe provides secure undercover cycle storage and laundry facilities including a washer-dryer and classic celing-hung clothes airer. There is an outside tap for washing boots and cycles.
If you require provisions on arrival or during your stay let us know in advance. The annexe has a freezer for storing ready meals and any other items you may need.
Modern communications include satellite TV/DVD and free WiFi for guests.
Why not relax after a long day out and sit in the garden, take in the amazing views and enjoy looking at the stars on a warm summers evening.
You will have a good chance of seeing a red squirrel from the colony which has lived in our woods for at least 30 years.
Private parking is adjacent to the cottage. To protect the squirrels we are unable to accept pets.
The cottage is open all year including the Christmas and New Year. Short breaks can be booked if there are vacancies a month beforehand.
Guests include birdwatchers, red squirrel enthusiasts, musicians and artists as well as those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of life. We have had a number of honeymoons and romantic stays.
Equally being close to Caldbeck Common, High Pike and Carrock Fell, where paragliding is regularly carried out, we are ideally placed for those looking for adventure.

Hadrians Wall. Walking in the Lake District Fell, direct access to Carrock Fell and High Pike. Keswick, Derwentwater and Ullswater within 30 minutes. Keswick has many attractions including the Theatre by the Lake. Ospreys at Bassenthwaite Lake within 30 Minutes. Our rural cottages are a good base from which to visit the whole of the Lake District. There is abundant wildlife including a red squirrel colony.
Nearest Train Station or Airport: Penrith, 12miles or Carlisle,15 miles
Recommended Places to Visit: Keswick, Skiddaw and the Northern Lakes. Penrith and the Eden Valley. Carlisle, the Castle and Hadrians Wall. Ambleside and the Langdale Valley. Rheged Discovery Centre near Penrith. Pooley Bridge, Howtown, and Ullswater. Ravenglass including the steamrailway and Muncaster Castle. Honister Pass, the slate mine and Via Ferrata. Hutton in the Forest and Dalemain historic houses and gardens.
Annual Events: Many local agricultural shows including Keswick Show in August and Hesket Newmarket Show in September. Classic motorcycle rally at Hesket Newmarket at May Bank Holiday. Keswick Jazz Festival and Mountain Festival. Keswick Covention in July/August.
