The Bothy is a self contained building standing on it's own offering cosy and comfortable "upside down" self catering accommodation for two people. It combines the old with the new and has a solid fuel "pot belly" stove to curl up in front of on those dark winter evenings.
Layout
Stone steps lead up to the front door where you enter into the combined lounge/dining/kitchen area with it's wooden floor and views towards Scafell Pike.
Steps lead down to the bedroom, which has stone walls and exposed oak beams. A door leads from the bedroom to the ensuite bathroom which has a traditional bath with feet, hand basin and WC.
All rooms are furnished with care and thought.
Views
From the kitchen and garden there are views towards Scafell Pike, Bow Fell and Crinkle Craggs.
Garden
An enclosed garden area surrounds two sides of the Bothy which is south facing and sunniest just outside of the front door
Pets
Pets welcome (but not allowed downstairs into the bedroom or on the furniture)

Woodend is set in a quiet remote location quite high on Birker Fell (approximately 950 ft) and approached from the fell along a single track road through a gate. It has views across the fell towards Scafell Pike, (Englands's highest mountain), and is a ten minute walk from one of the smaller of the lakes, Devoke Water, which never the less is nearly a mile long!
At Woodend you not only have incredible views towards Scafell Pike from most of the rooms, but within a five minute walk you have stunning views over Devoke Water and within twenty minutes walking you can be at the top of Devoke Seat where, on a clear day, you have a 360 degree panoramic view that includes Devoke Water, the Langdales, the coast and the Isle of Man.
We pride ourselves in combining comfortable and cosy accommodation within a quiet relaxing environment.
Whether you enjoy walking, fishing, cycling, climbing, sightseeing by car or just want to close the gate after you and not return to civilisation until it suits you, this is the perfect centre for all.
