This event is hosted at the height of summer in July. It has become well established and known, especially in Poland, over a thirty year period. The folk music may be central to the festival but it's accompanied by poetry readings, dance, cultural exhibitions, organised trips and parades. It's a must for anyone visiting Zakopane at that time of year.

Karol Szymanowski Music Festival also held in July. There are numrous other festivals all year round. Rabka hosts a pierogi festival where people can come and try a wide variety of these traditional Polish pasties that can be either savoury or sweet. The Polish equivalent of a pie.
