Dunajec - for white water rafting
A touristy, summer thing to do,and a fair distance away from Zakopane, but fun. Go on an organised Dunajec river and gorge trip in a large 'raft'. Visit the local Tourist office for details.
A lake high in the mountains and a very popular tourist destination.
Historical Places to Visit:
- 'Pod Jodlami' at Bystre and 'Koliba' (ul. Koscieliska) houses designed by Stanislaw Witkiewicz who developed the distinctive architectural style of wooden houses in Zakopane and helped make Zakopane famous.
- Wooden chapel, designed by Witkiewicz, in Jaszczurowka (on the road to Morskie Oko). The cemetary is worth visiting for noting prominent personalities from the past.
- Wooden church in Peksowe Brzysko

Rabka is known as the 'town of the world's children'. It's built around an enormous central park with swing parks, restaurant, paths and cycle trails. There are 3 ski slopes in winter, toboggan run and an ice skating rink. In summer enjoy horse and cart rides, swimming pools, Rabkoland funfair.
Bus fare into Krakow is just 9 zl each way (takes just over an hour), much less to Zakopane.
