Walking holidays in and around Zakopane and holiday home rental
Sporty types will have a whale of a time in Zakopane. There's just so much to choose from: the Tatra mountains naturally lend themselves to hiking, climbing and hang-gliding plus skiing and snow boarding in the winter, but new sports are competing for attention and tourist's time and hard cash.
In the winter you will find snowboarding and skidooing (snow scooters) on offer. In winter there are quad bikes and mountain bikes to hire or horse riding.
Mountain biking is becoming increasingly popular and there are five official cycle routes within the National Park, in addition to others in the hills north of Zakopane. Mountain bikes can be hired at a number of places around the town. Try 'Rent a Bike' at ul. Sienkiewicza 37
Zakopane and the Gorce hills to the north have long been popular with Polish walkers. Poles of all ages descend on Zakopane and Rabka in droves to go hill walking or hiking. The paths and trails are very well signposted. There is a cable car to take visitors to the top of Kasprowy Wierch mountain where you can walk along the high ridges and see a series of mountain lakes.
In many places, horses and carts or sleighs in winter ferry people part of the way to make life easier. This area is a real outdoor wonderland, in both summer and winter.
Lots of trips possible to Cracow and other areas.
