Gloucestershire is one of the most beautiful counties of Britain. From the Cotswolds with their pretty stone houses to the Royal Forest of Dean on the Welsh English border with the River Severn, Gloucestershire will enchant you in every way. If you want to delve back in history, Roman Gloucester and the Regency spa town of Cheltenham both have much to offer. There are also the Tewkesbury medieval battle re-enactments to really take you back in time. For the sports minded, there is the Cheltenham National Hunt Festival, once favoured by the Queen Mother is held in mid March each year. Gloucestershire is full of delightful English country villages. William Morris believed that Bilbury was the most beautiful in Britain. Even Prince Charles has made his home in Gloucestershire at Highgrove House.
