Self-catering
holiday accommodation and country cottages in Derbyshire
Derbyshire
and the Peak District National Park
Memories
of Derbyshire evoke rugged green wooded hills and fields separated
by dry stone walls. Small tricking brooks meander through the wild
flower strewn Dales. Sheep wander at will across the moors and roads.
Traditional stone built villages and small market towns, where
life continues at a gentler pace than in the bustling cities of
the UK.
The
Peak District National Park, Britain's first, occupies part
of Derbyshire. An ideal area for walkers, the moors are strewn with
large boulders, limestone gorges, the home of sheep and grouse.
The Dales are truly lovely; Dovedale, Monsal Dale and Lathkill -
all offering scenic and peaceful walks.
The
Spa towns of Matlock and Buxton faithfully welcome tourists and
are ideal for day trips. there you will find various tourist attractions
like underground caves - some of which can be navigated by boat,
cable car rides, tea shops and miniature villages provide family
entertainment. Everyone pays a visit to the market town of Chesterfield
with its church with the distinctive crooked steeple.
There
are countless charming villages strewn across the Peak District
to explore and enjoy, including Hartington with its village duck
pond. The stately home of Chatsworth is worth a trip, as is Bolsover
Castle, the American Adventure theme park, and Derby itself. There
are many other well known tourist attractions in the county, so
that you won't be bored, but its the rugged, wooded beauty of the
countryside that will stay with you forever.
