Herefordshire
for holidays in self-catering cottages
Herefordshire
and the Wye Valley Herefordshire is one of England's best kept secrets.
A rural county with beautiful countryside, famed for its cattle
and cider. Herefordshire boasts charming villages ( some black and
white), friendly inns, quaint market towns and the ancient City
of Hereford, and it's mighty Norman Cathedral, where visitors can
scan the 'Mappa Mundi'; a 13th century cartographer's interpretation
of the world.
There
is a forty mile 'Black and White Village Trail' that takes visitors
by road through a string of pretty villages with black and white
houses. Each village offers a place to stop and look around.
There are tea shops and pubs aplenty, so they're ideal for a pub
crawl or tea shop crawl - depending on your personal preference.
And the scenery en-route in this fruit and hop growing region is
rural and pleasing to the eye.
Ross-on-Wye,
a pretty market town perched on a sandstone cliff, high above a
loop of the magnificent river Wye is a must to visit. The famous
beauty spot of Symonds Yat, the Forest of Dean, Ledbury and the
Malverns are also close by.
Herefordshire is an ideal county for walkers, cyclists the energetic
and the leisurely who prefer to enjoy the views. A county
not to be missed!
