Lee-on-the-Solent is positioned directly opposite Cowes in the Isle of Wight with the stretcch of water called the Solent separating them. The town has a seafront with a shingle beach and a promenade. HMS Daedalus, Royal Naval Base is located there. This part of the South Coast is concerned with shipping and sailing.
