The Village Store in Aberlour on Spey, Speyside, Scotland

Built on a corner of the high street, the Village Store in Aberlour bears witness to the advantages of hoarding. Owned by Mr. A. Macintyre from the early 1920s until his retirement in 1978, it was run as the much needed general village store which stocked just about everything.
Mr. A. Macintyre never ever threw out anything which still had some use. Custard powder , baby clothes, cleaning materials, cans of food, stationery, paint and anything else that you can care to name can still be seen in its original condition. Forget sell by dates - they did not exist. The result is a village store which will take you back to your childhood with goods, posters and artefacts that date back to the 1920s.
It does not cost you anything to wander around the shop. Visitors are encouraged to browse through the drawers and boxes to discover treasures of long ago.
