Visit Balmedie Beach and Country Park in Aberdeenshire, Scotland

You will find many beautiful beaches and coves in Aberdeenshire.  Balmedie, just north of Aberdeen, has  a particularly long and wide beach of clean golden sand, bordered by grassy dunes.  It's part of the Balmedie Beach and Country Park which has been developed to provide additional amenities for visitors.  There is free parking, toilets, wooden walkways across the sands and streams, picnic areas with barbecues, and a swing park with a fishing theme for children. It is also a wonderful place for a pet-friendly cottage holiday; there are miles of stunning sandy beaches all along the Aberdeenshire and Banffshire coasts for longer walks with dogs than you could ever imagine. Each strip of beach has something interesting to discover and your dog can run around in the sands, dunes and sea to its heart's content. Bird nesting time is when dogs should be kept on leads. Be aware that there may also be seals on the beaches and that the land adjoining the beaches is a huge rabbit warren.

The local people use the beach more than anyone for walks or jogging in the fresh air. The dunes are wonderful places for finding a sunny and sheltered spot to read in, or sunbathe on a good day, or for games of hide and seek for the children. Some of the secluded hollows also make for sheltered spots for young lovers!
