Health provision
in South Woodham could probably be described as reasonable, although
the pressures on existing facilities are likely to increase, especially
with the growth in population due to the new proposed development.
It may be difficult to register as a patient with some of the more
popular practices.

South
Woodham Ferrers Clinic is the building in the photograph in

Brickfields
Surgery is the red brick building to the left of the photograph.
Both can be found opposite Asda in the town centre.

The residents
of South Woodham are fortunate in that there are dedicated and caring
doctors, dentists and indeed veterinary care in the town. Most of
the practices are small with 2 to 3 GPs and tend to lack some of
the facilities offered by larger practices, for example, a regular
well woman clinic or blood testing on the premises.
Home visits
are a rare event indeed although most surgeries advertise
some form of provision. Out of hours or emergencies may be
attended by a deputising locum. It is however, usually
possible to obtain an appointment within 24 hours, especially if
it can be arranged during the morning or afternoon.
The Community
Clinic in Merchant Street, opposite Asda's offers a range of services
that can be accessed by GP referral. including blood tests and physiotherapy.
Many of these are offered on specific days only. Call 01245 318300,
preferably during the afternoon for more information.

Broomfield
Hospital in Chelmsford, is the designated NHS hospital for emergencies
and surgical treatment that a GP is unable to provide. In common
with certain others, it too has been affected by long waiting lists
and adverse publicity about patients left on trolleys in corridors
because of bed shortages. Parking is a long standing problem at Broomfield. It is sometimes difficult to obtain a parking space and it's expensive.
Basildon Hospital has a better arrangement with free parking is you can return to your car within 45 minutes.
Springfield Medical Centre in
Chelmsford offers consultations and treatment under private medical health schemes.
Specific details of health services
offered may be added to these pages on request. Please email.
