The Mount Cottage, sleeps 4-8, Cumbria - the Lake District

There are 3 open fires downstairs as well as full central heating. There are 4 bedrooms 2 doubles and 2 that can either be super king size or twin bedded rooms. The bathroom has the original roll top bath. All linens (except cot) and towels are included.

The House has a living room and lounge separate dining room and kitchen. There is also a drying/utility room and shower and toilet downstairs. There are 3 rooms downstairs that you can have open fires.

There are lots of easy walks in Eskdale, riverside and waterfall paths, nature and forest trails, through fields or over low fells ... the list is endless. 

For the more adventurous, the surrounding fells provide routes that are quite breathtaking in both effort and scenery! Climbers will revel in Scafell's mighty rocks.  Wasdale Head, the birthplace of climbing is only twenty minutes away by car.  You can use the 'L'aal Ratty' narrow gauge steam railway to extend your range of walks and visits. Take a look at The Orchards Apartment which offers spacious and comfortable accommodation in the village of Holmrook. Leicestershire in England  is not necessarily known for its spectacular scenery but is does have attractive aspects for  families with children.  You can wander safely through Robin Hood country in Sherwood Forest, view the Major Oak and Robin Hood displays, or walk in one of the many attractive country parks.   It's a place where you can combine walks for families with places of interest and entertainment for kids.  New Farm Cottage, with its exclusive heated indoor pool and sauna, is situated in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, on a working arable farm. Eastcroft is a charming miner’s cottage renovated to a high standard to include central heating and modern appliances and yet still retains its old country charm and home from home appeal.

Set in the village of Stanhope near to the stepping stones over the River Wear it is an ideal place to return to after a day exploring the surrounding moors and waterfalls of the Durham Dales.

The sitting room seats 6 comfortably and has a wide selection of books of local interest, maps, DVD’s. The dining kitchen is well equipped for catering for a family and has seating for 6 at the large oval table. In the spacious family bedroom there is a double and a single bed also a cot, TV and video and a charming period fireplace. The second bedroom contains a full size double bed with a single bunk bed above and ample fitted units. The bed linen, towels, electricity and gas are all included in the price of this non smoking accommodation.

cottage in Constable CountrySpring Hall Cottage is a charming 200 years old Grade II listed thatched cottage that sits on the North Essex/South Suffolk borders in Constable Country. Recently refurbished to a very high standard with a new kitchen and bathroom complementing the wealth of exposed beams.

There are two separate double bedrooms one of which can be made into two single beds if required, the lounge is 23 feet long which features the original inglenook fireplace, the dining room area seats 8 comfortably so you can entertain your family and friends in style.

The cottage has an enclosed garden of approximately one third of an acre laid down to lawns and flowerbeds with views overlooking farm land, so ideal for children. Well-behaved pets also welcome. There is a double cart lodge and patio area with a gas BBQ provided so Al Fresco dining is a possibility on warm and sunny days.

Another secluded cottage that will sleep two in cosy comfort is Beechwood, near Cromer in Norfolk.  It is located in a secluded and rural area. The Weaver's Way walk is accessed just across the field, and takes you over Thwaite common into National Trust land and through Blickling Hall grounds with many more wayside-marked footpaths. The North Norfolk Coastal Path is only a short drive away and the sandy beaches are particularly suited to walking from one pretty town to the next.

9 Park Lane sleeps 5-11, in  Southwold in Suffolk
 

The delightful thing about East Anglia, at least for the walker, is the gentle hills! A quiet country lane is never far away so you can enjoy the peaceful roads and landscapes as you make steady progress towards your destination. Whether that be Beccles to spend a while by the River Waveney, the fine Cathedral City of Norwich, the Castle at Framlingham or wherever takes your fancy!  9 Park Lane (sleeps 11)  in the salubrious part of  Southwold, Suffolk.  It's a 17th Century beamed cottage with loads of character and  just a short walk from the mile of beach which stretches from the newly extended pier to the harbour. The beach varies from season to season, sometimes shingle sometimes sand. The pier end has traditional beach huts and promenade while the harbour end has a wide expanse of beach backed by sand dunes ideal for picnics and sunbathing. You can also take the small row boat ferry across the river to Walberswick and enjoy the beach there.  Walberswick is the site of the annual crabbing competition.  This cottage has the optional advantage of its own beach hut.
