The Lodge is a stunning three bedroom 3 bathroom 5 star cottage awarded Cumbria Tourism '2008 Self Catering Holiday of the year'. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Meadow Bank. Two luxurious self-catering holiday cottages situated at the entrance to the Langdale Valley in the unspoiled village of Elterwater in the Lake District. A converted coach house (sleeps 2) and a spacious apartment (sleeps 4 and pet-friendly) can sleep up to 6 people between them at 'The Orchards' in Eskdale, Holmrook, Cumbria. Within the village there is a shop that sells most items (food, drink, alcoholic beverages), post-office/outdoor shop, public telephone, and two inns which serve excellent food. A further three inns can be found eastward along Eskdale valley. The 'L'aal Ratty', a narrow gauge steam railway stops at two stations in the village - "Irton Road", and "The Green" - which is just down the lane past "The Orchards".

Newtown House boasts impressively high ceilings, many original features including open fires and incredible sea views. Knott View is a character property built in the 1600’s, set in a rural location with a large enclosed garden and countryside views. Both properties are situated in the Lake District National Park. Just a mile and a half away, past a ruined Roman bath house, is the village of Ravenglass, a Roman port and favoured destination of smugglers. An isolated beach cove at the end of the drive is the perfect place for a picnic and there are miles of country walks to be enjoyed direct from the door. Newtown House and Knott View can be rented as one big house that sleeps 20.
Nearby, a miniature railway, 'L’al Ratty', travels through seven miles of beautiful countryside, ending its journey at the visitor centre in Eskdale at the foot of Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. Visitors looking for an action packed holiday can enjoy superb fell walking, dedicated cycle routes, horse riding, golf and fishing.

The Ravenglass estuary, directly opposite one of our cottages, is a haven for birdwatchers and conservationists. A stroll along the sands reveals the rich history of the village, once a Roman port and favoured destination for smugglers. All guests receive free entry to Muncaster’s 70 acres of gardens, the World Owl Centre and Meadowvole Maze, and discounted entry to the medieval castle, home of the Pennington family.
