 It's a pleasant town to walk around, giving the impression of genteel tourism rather than tacky commercialism.  The tea shops in Southwold offer an old-fashioned service with good quality products served on decent china, and some of the pubs, real ale.  There are art galleries, ancient churches, and listed buildings to explore.
