The pretty Cotswold village of Bampton has delightful cottages made of Cotswold stone, a handfull of pubs and is exactly the kind of village to give a flavour of traditional country life in England. A country fair is held in its streets at the beginning of May. Various events take place on the spring bank holiday weekend including the making and display of May garlands, Morris dancing complete with jingling bells and ribbons and a street race that requires participants to provide a set of wheels that could be salvaged from anything from a wheelbarrow to baby's pram. More traditional village activities take place on the August Bank Holiday.
