A dog friendly self-catering cottage where you can trust that your pets will be made welcome can be a weight off your mind. Dogs by and large are used to travelling with you in your car and can be taken on holiday really quite easily. Before setting off you will need to make sure that your pet has a supply of drinking water and make occasional stops on the way for your pet. The following list of self-catering cottages that welcome pets is useful for those people who have more than one doggy friend to take on holiday with them. It can be challenging to find somewhere suitable if you have more than one dog. To make it easy for you, take a look at the following cottages which will accept 2 or more dogs. Please call the cottage owners to confirm how many dogs they will accept because it can depend on the breed of dog. Do give some thought to your destination and what you plan to do there. A sheep chasing dog in the countryside is not welcomed by anyone, nor is a dog that gets left behind to cause damage in a cottage because he's not used to being left for lengthy periods whilst you visit the local attractions.
Most dog owners are very responsible people and will not allow their dog to cause damage or mess. Many cottage owners who have pet friendly cottages and welcome pets will have experience of keeping pets themselves and be sympathetic. They may even have additional facilities for them. They will be able to advise you about the best places to walk your dog and of a suitable vet in case of emergency.
Of course it is possible to take other types of pets on holiday with you but it is not always advisable. Cats do not respond well to change and may escape in a strange environment. The factors to consider are:

the well-being of your dog or pet

possible damage to the cottage by your dog or other pet

effect on your enjoyment by taking your dog with you

cost of leaving your dog or pet behind
If taking your pet will cause you undue stress then leave it suitably provided for at home. You can always ring to enquire about its welfare. And, if you plan to take any other pet on holiday apart from a dog, do check with the owners of the property first.

Dog friendly self-catering cottages in Wales
Brackenbury, a historic, Grade II listed cottage is dog friendly. This cottage is located in a pretty village with views of the green and River Glaslyn. What's more, this cottage is in the Snowdonia National park in north Wales. Nearby and around the cottage you will find beautiful mountain scenery. The village, Beddgelert has pretty much everything you should need: a shop, pubs, restaurants and a post office.
The cottage – sleeps 4 in comfort and 6 at a push– offers a home from home environment and has many antique pieces.
Inside the cottage there is a conservatory – great in the summer, a dining kitchen, shower room, generous living room with open fire, digital TV and hi-fi, and 2 bedrooms (1 of which is a double with en-suite facilities and 1 twin bedroom). The price includes heating and electricity. Please bring own bed linen, towels and tea towels. Parking is available for 2 cars.
